FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

A Residential Care Facility for the Elderly (RCFE) serves seniors age 60 and older. It may also be known as an assisted living facility or “board and care” if run in a residential home.

The level of care and supervision offered at RCFEs are for people who are unable to live by themselves but do not need 24-hour nursing care. They provide a room, meals, housekeeping, and personal care assistance.

RCFEs are considered non-medical facilities and are not required to have medical staff on the premises. They must meet care and safety standards set by the State of California and are licensed and inspected by the Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division (CCLD).

We provide a homelike environment, which may especially be more comfortable for individuals with dementia.

Amparo Senior Care is in a residential neighborhood. Residents can walk to the mailbox to check the mail, visit the local park, or have lunch a few blocks away at the golf course club house.

There are also much fewer residents, which allow for bonding and familiarity between the residents and the care team. The care ratio is usually one care teammate to two or three residents.

Having fewer residents means that we can highly individualize each resident’s diet, schedule and activities. Residents also receive more emotional and social support, as well as care, when needed.

We are licensed to provide care to six residents in our home. Two of our rooms are private rooms, and the other two are semi-private with two residents each.

Rates vary depending on the resident’s level of care and room. Please schedule a tour and meeting with the administrator for more information.

We do not charge any assessment, community or reservation fees.

Yes, individuals on hospice are welcomed. We have a hospice waiver for four residents.

Pets are a wonderful addition to any home.

We would love to meet the pet first to determine if he/she is appropriate for the home.

Residents are encouraged to bring personal items, such as picture frames, souvenirs, and small furnishings to make them feel at home. The rooms are furnished, but we are able to accommodate residents if they would like to bring in personal furniture. We cannot, however, allow residents to bring in their own mattresses. If you have specific questions on an item, please contact the administrator.

If there is no vacancy available or you or your loved one is not ready for a new home, yet, please email or call us to request to be on the waiting list. We will contact you as soon as accommodations are available.

Please note that being on the waiting list does not guarantee admission. There is a pre-admission process to determine if you or your loved one is appropriate for the facility.
